The existence of the internet and smartphones has opened up new ways of delivering psychological treatments, one of which is to digitalise them so that they can be delivered online or via smartphone apps. Digital treatment is new and has only recently become the focus of research. Its use as a means of providing treatment for depression and anxiety disorders is receiving considerable attention, but there has been much less research on its use to help people with eating disorders.
At CREDO we are developing a digital form of CBT-E, termed CBTe. It is designed to be delivered direct to those with an eating problem (via search engines). It is intended for people with recurrent binge eating, and for two groups in particular:
CBTe is designed to be a highly personalised and engaging intervention. It matches the eating problem of the user and adapts itself to his or her progress.
We are seeking volunteers to help us evaluate CBTe as we need to learn more about its effects and what it is like for people using it. If you are interested in helping, please click here.
